Choral Music
David is a Countertenor Lay Clerk at Tewkesbury Abbey, and sings regularly at Gloucester Cathedral and other venues in the surrounding area. In January 2025, David will take up the position of Lay Clerk with the Choir of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

He recently recorded an album of Christmas Music with Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum, and an album of Elgar’s Part Songs with the Proteus Ensemble, both for release in 2024. Alongside singing, David is a passionate advocate for climate science and communication of energy & geoscience issues to the public.
David’s musical career began in 2004 as a chorister at St. James’ School, singing daily at St. James’ Parish Church, now Grimsby Minster. He was later Head Chorister and Choral Scholar during his teenage years. David studied A Levels at Franklin College, where he further developed his musicianship and ensemble singing skills under founding Tallis Scholars, Gill & David Parker.
David was previously Singing Teacher and Musical Director for many of Stagecoach Theatre Arts Grimsby’s summer shows, Children’s Choir Director for Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s touring production of ‘Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, and has performed in several operas with Ellen Kent International.
Following a gap-year choral scholarship at Truro Cathedral, David studied Geology at Royal Holloway, University of London. Here he sang with the acclaimed Chapel Choir, and deputised regularly at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and at HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace. In 2018, David co-founded vocal sextet The Back Row, who gave workshops to schools, as well as performances across the UK.
David has sung alongside groups such as Voces8, Gabrieli, The King’s Singers, and The Sixteen – taking part in the latter’s Genesis Sixteen training programme for young professional singers in 2018.
David continued his scientific studies at Royal Holloway, receiving a Master of Science degree in Geoscience, before moving to Staffordshire to study for a PhD in Geology & Carbon Storage. He became a Lay Clerk at Derby Cathedral from 2020 until 2023. In 2024, David & his wife Isobel moved to Tewkesbury, where David now works as a consultant Reservoir Geologist.
